If you are running a 2016 version of Sage and an older Sage Fixed Assets version, you will have to upgrade them sooner. Upon upgrading the Sage Fixed Assets to 2018.1 or later version, you may encounter with Sage issue -Unable to cast COM object.

This error can occur when the Crystal Reports runtime (SP21) version installed with the FAS 2018.1 isn’t compatible with the Sage versions. This error also arises when the Auto-Entry-Sync attempts to connect to file path on which Sage isn’t installed.

Resolution

Option 1: Upgrade the Sage Fixed Assets version to the latest version available.
Option 2: Follow the steps below for Sage-Fixed-Assets (2015.1-2017.1version)

For all Sage Fixed Assets Lite products that include Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation, Sage 50-Fixed-Assets, and Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50:

  1. Download and then extract the CRSP21FixLite.zip
  2. Copy and paste SBDDesktop.exe.config to C: Drive – Common Files – Sage SBD folder.

For Sage Fixed Assets Single user:

  1. Download and then extract the CRSP21FixSU.zip
  2. Copy SBDDesktop.exe.config to C: Drive – Common Files – Sage SBD folder
  3. Copy T2S8RptContainer.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Common Files folder
  4. Copy cdnTax.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Depreciation folder
  5. Copy fca.exe.config to C: Drive- Sage Fixed Assets – FCA folder
  6. Copy FasCIP.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Planning folder

For Sage Fixed Assets Network:

  • Download and then extract the CRSP21FixNW.zip
  • Copy SBDDesktop.exe.config to C: Drive -Common Files – Sage SBD folder
  • Copy T2S8RptContainer.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Common Files folder

Note: If the server and Client are located on the same machine, copy the file to C: Drive – SFAServ – Common folder

  • Copy cdnTax.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Depreciation folder
  • Copy fca.exe.config to C:Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – FCA folder
  • Copy FasCIPNT.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Planning Network folder

For Sage Fixed Assets Premier:

  • Download and then extract the CRSP21FixMS.zip
  • Copy SBDDesktop.exe.config to C: Drive – Common Files – Sage SBD folder
  • Copy T2S8RptContainer.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Common Files folder

Note: If the server and Client are located on the same machine, copy the file to C: Drive – SFAServ – Common folder

  • Copy cdnTax.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Depreciation folder
  • Copy fca.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – FCA folder
  • Copy FasCIPMS.exe.config to C: Drive – Sage Fixed Assets – Premier Planning folder
