Sage 50 is an amazing accounting solution for small and mid-size businesses. Most businesses are now turning to Sage 50 for managing their finances and running their business. This is because of the excellent features and tools that Sage 50 has to provide.

However, with all the excellent features and enhancements users still tend to encounter some problems while running Sage 50 solution. One common scenario is when users try to access the database. Find fixes for this error in the following lines.

Cause

  • When database file is left open
  • When the Connection Manager version on Server doesn’t match with the Workstation
  • Permissions on .SAJ directory doesn’t include complete access for System account
  • When antivirus program is blocking mysql

Resolution

Method I: Reboot computer

  • Reboot the computer in which the data is stored.
  • Verify the error no longer occurs.

Method II: When data file is on network

  • Open to company file and copy .SAI file & .SAJ folder into the desktop.
  • Launch Sage 50.
  • Now try opening the company file stored on the desktop.
  • If the file opens normally, then it means that there is an issue in the network. Most likely an antivirus and/or firewall are too restrictive.
  • Add the “System” to the security tab of the shared folder.
  • Have the network administrator fix the network issue.

Method III: Data Error

  • You can run the chkdsk in order to check the drive or allow experts technician to restore the drive. OR
  • Run the Advance database check.
  • Check dbverifier for the Data Error
  • Check whether you can copy .SAJ folder to a different folder.
  • In case you get the same data error while copying the folder, it means the file or the folder in it may be corrupted.
  • If so, restore a strong backup to a different folder.

Method IV: Different Connection Manager Version

  • Open to Server computer and download the latest Sage 50 edition.
  • Choose the Server-only install option if the complete program isn’t required.
  • Verify you are installing the right Connection Manager version.

Method V: The folder where the file is stored is corrupted

  • If you are able to open files in the network then copy .SAI file & .SAJ folder from company file into the desktop.
  • Start the Sage 50 and try to open the company file on desktop.
  • If you are able to open it, create a new shared folder on server. It should have full control permission
  • Then go back to desktop, copy the company file and paste it on the newly created folder.
  • Confirm that you are able to open the file.
  • In case the file still doesn’t open, you can run the Advance database check in order to check for the error. OR
  • Restore a stronger backup of the file.
